6 Fantastic Space-Saving Ideas for a Small Bathroom

Hanging shelves or unit

Are you wondering where on earth you’re going to store all of your toiletries in your compact bathroom?  If you don’t have the floor space for a storage unit, then you need to look at maximising your wall space. With so many different shapes, sizes, and colours to choose from, shelves are no longer boring! They offer a great alternative to floor standing cabinets and if you don’t want your loo roll on display, there are plenty of funky baskets out there, to hide away items neatly, as well as adding character to your bathroom. And, if you’d prefer to keep your walls bare, then an over-the-door storage unit may be a better option for you.

Wall-mounted heated towel rail

Imagine stepping out of the shower or bath and grabbing a lovely warm fluffy towel to wrap around yourself. Heaven.

Heated towel rails are a fantastic alternative to a conventional radiator because instead of standing out from the wall, they lie flat against it. They're available in a manner of different sizes, shapes, colours, and designs, so it doesn’t matter if you have a designer bathroom or a more traditional one.

If you’re concerned that your towel radiator won’t pump out enough heat, you could add under-floor heating, and that way you’ll get the warmth you want as well as a lovely warm underfoot feeling every time you use the loo.

Shower over Bath

If you don’t have room for a separate shower cubicle and a bath, then installing a shower unit above your bath will solve this issue. You’ll then have the best of both worlds, as you can still enjoy a relaxing soak in the tub after a long day, or a quick wash if you’re in a hurry.

There are many options available, and you can choose a standard size bath or a smaller compact one, depending on the space available.

Corner basin and vanity unit

Combination corner basins and vanity units are designed to be compact yet practical, so you can utilise the space in your bathroom, downstairs toilet, or en-suite.

If you don’t need the storage you can choose to just have a basin which will give you more space and make the room appear bigger.

Mirrored Storage

Combined mirrored bathroom cabinets are perfect for small bathrooms. The cabinet providess valuable storage for your toiletries and the mirror will keep you looking good and create an illusion of space.

There are literally hundreds of bathroom cabinets on the market, but LED ones are proving to be a very popular choice and you don’t need a trendy designer bathroom to have one.  LED bathroom cabinets look incredible and provide clean yet subtle lighting that is perfect for when applying your make-up or having a shave.

Toilet and sink combo

If you’ve got a compact bathroom then a toilet and washbasin combination with a vanity unit will save you a lot of space. This is because the basin and the toilet sit right next to each other, meaning you don't have to factor in extra room for a separate sink and toilet. Plus, they have the added benefit of a vanity unit with either a cupboard or drawers, so you'll have storage for all your bits and bobs.

If you're really short on space, then you may want to consider a toilet with a sink and tap. This may sound a bit odd, but it's essentially a normal style toilet, but instead of having the flat or curved top over the cistern, it has a built-in sink and tap. These work really well in very small spaces like understair WC's and en-suites.
