How to Easily Style Your Home this Christmas

Sleighbells ring are you listening? In the lane, snow is glistening…Oh yes, Christmas is less than five weeks away, and with so much to think about, decorating your home this season may be the last thing on your mind. But whether you love going the whole hog or like a more minimalist style of decoration, it can’t be denied that putting up the decs makes your home feel cosier and sets you in the mood for all things festive. But, if you’re struggling to decide how to add some yuletide magic to your home this season, our handy blog is sure to kick-start your inspiration and get you in the mood for the most wonderful time of the year.

Create the perfect entrance

WOW, your guests by decorating the outside of your home to create a wonderfully festive feeling.  With so many different lights available to buy you’ll be spoilt for choice and depending on your style, you can either go all out and light up your home like the Blackpool Tower or go for a more subtle look.

Festive LED figures and characters such as reindeers, snowmen, and stars can really jazz up the outside of your home and make it stand out from the crowd. If that’s not your thing, lights leading up your driveway or hung up on your porch are equally as effective.

Display a beautiful Christmas wreath

No front door is complete this season without a wreath! Whether it’s homemade, or shop-bought, a wonderful wreath instantly transforms your front door and adds festive cheer.

Wreaths aren’t just confined to your front door though; they also look amazing hung up in the middle of a mirror and make a wonderful table decoration too.

Why not hang one on the back of your front door as well as your living room and kitchen door for that extra special touch?

Make your hallway warm and welcoming

Your hallway is the gateway to the other rooms in your home, so it stands to reason that you’ll want to make it welcoming for your family and friends. Tea lights in a jar, lanterns on your stairs, tinsel, or a garland on your banister, will transform your hallway by adding some Christmas magic.

Plug in a Christmas scented air freshener or burn some essential oils like Mulled Wine or Apple and Cinnamon to add the perfect festive scent to your home.

Make the hub of your home sparkle

Your kitchen is the heart of your home; the place where everyone gathers, so you'll want to make it look extra special this Christmas.

Simple window dressings like fairy lights wrapped around fern and berries or candles on the windowsill work really well. LED flickering candles make a great alternative if you’re worried about the real ones posing a fire risk.

If you’ve got an island or a breakfast bar, try adding a festive centerpiece or hang some decorations from the lights to add some merriment.

No Christmas kitchen is complete though without the wonderful smell of baked gingerbread or Christmas cookies. If you’ve got children, keep them entertained by making these festive treats together. It’s not only a great way to get them involved in the joy of cooking, but it’s also a lot of fun too.

Lay the table

Whilst red and green remain a festive favourite, there are so many different colour schemes to choose from. If you love all things bright and beautiful you could add some funky coloured wine glasses to your table or some coloured charger plates and napkins. If you prefer a more uniform look then the same coloured dinner cloths, placemats, and napkins work well. Finishing touches like festive napkin rings and name place cards will make your table more aesthetically pleasing.

If you have festive crockery and utensils now is the time to dig them out. But the key is not to overcrowd your dinner table with a lot of plates and glassware, as there will be no room for your centerpiece and other table decorations. If you have a small table then using smaller plates will give your guests more room and will make the festive lunch much more enjoyable.

Create the perfect place to chill

There’s nothing better than a warm and cosy environment where you and your guests can kick back, relax and snooze off that Christmas dinner. Layer up chunky blankets and throws, fill up bowls with baubles or candy canes, light the fire, burn Christmas scented candles, hang a wreath up, drape a garland along your mantlepiece, and use mood lighting to create the perfect ambiance.

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree

Celebrate the holiday season with a beautifully decorated tree.

It doesn't matter if you love red, gold, and green, or bright pink and purple, you can even tie in your Christmas tree decorations with your home decor, just be sure to add plenty of lights and some festive treats for the kids and adults alike.
