Nothing marks the start of spring like giving your home a deep clean and that includes your bathroom.
Start off by looking in your bathroom cupboards and drawers and throwing away unwanted or out-of-date items, also clear away any clutter that the eye can see. Next, give your bathroom a really good vacuum all over. Use an attachment, if possible, to get into all the nooks and crannies, as dust and grime can easily build up in these hard-to-reach places.
Using a good disinfectant mop the floor and wipe over all the surfaces. Don’t forget the door handles, light switches and light shades/covers, taps, and remember to bleach your toilet. If you can, leave the bleach or toilet cleaner overnight and the bowl will be sparkling by the morning.
An easy and reasonably affordable way of freshening up your bathroom is by changing your towels and bathmat from dark to light. Don't throw them away though, store them somewhere dry for when the seasons change back. Replace darker towels with lighter or brighter colours, to reflect the vibe of spring and lift your mood. And, when it’s wintertime, simply change them back to the towels you had previously.
If you still have your favourite winter spice reed diffuser in your bathroom, now is the time to change it to a lighter, fresher one. Choose scents like lemon, green tea, mandarin, lime, basil, and lavender for an instant Spring touch.
If you don't like reed diffusers then scented potpourri makes a good alternative. Change the scent of your soap or handwash too to compliment the scent in the air.
If you can afford to, changing your window dressings is a great way to brighten up your bathroom and bring it out of the doldrums of winter.
We suggest roller blinds for the bathroom because they can withstand the moisture and steam that happens when you bathe or shower.
Look on the internet and you’ll find many good quality and reasonably priced blinds on the market, and you have a huge choice of styles, colours, fabrics and patterns including floral ones if you really want to go with the Spring theme.
Adding flowers and plants to your bathroom will add instant calm and they look pretty.
Snake plants, Boston ferns, Peace Lilies, and Orchids are all suitable for the bathroom, or you could add some spring blooms like daffodils, tulips, and hyacinths to a decorative vase or jug.
