Energy Efficient Kitchen Appliances that will Save you Money and Help the Planet

As the cost of living continues to rise, many homeowners are looking for ways to save money. One way to do this is by investing in energy-efficient kitchen appliances.

Energy-efficient appliances can help you save money on your utility bills and help reduce your carbon footprint.

There are a few things to keep in mind however when shopping for energy-efficient kitchen appliances. First, look for the Energy Rating Label. This is the rainbow-colored label that you will see attached to electrical appliances. In 2020 a new Energy Label was introduced, in order to help homeowners make a decision about choosing the most energy-efficient appliances. The old energy ratings were scrapped and a new more simple energy scale was introduced. It goes from A-G, A being the best energy rating, and G being the lowest.

Second, check the appliance's wattage rating. The lower the wattage, the less energy the appliance will use.

When it comes to energy efficiency in the kitchen, there are a few appliances that stand out from the pack. Here are the top three energy-efficient kitchen appliances that can help you save money and conserve energy.

1. Washing machine.

A lot of homeowners think that buying a smaller washing machine is more energy efficient than a larger one, but in fact, if you were to buy a larger washing machine with a great Energy Rating you will cut down on the number of loads that you wash. Thus reducing the amount of water and energy that you use and in turn, will help to save you money and it's kinder on the planet.

2. Dishwasher.

A dishwasher with a good Energy Star rating can save you up to 50% on your water and electricity usage compared to washing dishes by hand.

Consider how you load your dishwasher and make sure that the spray can turn around fully and not get stuck, or your plates, cutlery, cups, etc may not come out clean. The last thing you want to do is have to wash them again because you'll be using more water and more energy.

Induction Hob

An induction hob is an energy-efficient way to cook, as it uses less energy than other methods. It works by using a magnetic field to heat the pan, which means that the heat is transferred directly to the food, making it more efficient.

Induction hobs also have a lower risk of fire as there is no naked flame.

Fan Ovens

Electric fan ovens use less energy than conventional ovens because the heat is circulated more evenly by the fan. This means that food can be cooked at a lower temperature, which saves energy.

Fan ovens have a shorter cooking time too, which is another bonus as you will use less energy to cook your food.

Air Fryers

Air fryers have become increasingly popular in recent years as people look for ways to cook healthier meals. They have also been identified as one of the most energy-efficient ways to cook food too!

Air fryers work by circulating hot air around the food inside so it cooks it evenly on all sides. All types of food are suitable for an air-fryer, in fact, we think you'll be surprised at what you can cook in them.

One of the biggest advantages of using an air fryer is that you don't have to pre-heat it as you do with a conventional oven, nor do you have a large area to heat up. Think about the number of times that you have put your oven on to only cook a small meal in it. This is not only a waste of energy but a waste of your money too.
